What is Goin’ Postal?
Goin’ Postal is your friendly neighborhood shipping and printing center. The Goin’ Postal Ship Center offers shipping and mailing services with all major carriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL) while the Print Center provides a wide-range of on-demand printing services such as photo printing, banners, “Cheer Heads”, custom stickers, and more. Goin’ Postal also offers a large selection of shipping materials such as boxes, decorative mailers, envelopes, and more. While Goin’ Postal is a national franchise, your neighborhood store is locally-owned and operated by a retired service member.
Does Goin’ Postal offer UPS / FedEx / USPS (Post Office) shipping?

From USPS Ground Advantage to FedEx Express Saver to UPS Next Day Air (and everything in between) we will give you the best price that meets your needs.
Do you sell stamps?
Yes, we carry a wide-range of USPS postage stamps. We try to keep a variety of First Class Forever Postage Letter stamps available along with post card and international 1oz letter stamps. We can also print stamps for heavier envelopes as flats.
Can I send / receive a fax at Goin’ Postal?
Yes, you can fax at Goin’ Postal. We have both outbound and inbound fax
services.
Does Goin’ Postal have a notary?
Yes, Goin’ Postal has North Carolina certified notaries on staff. We strive to have one available at all times. While no appointment is required, we do recommend you call ahead of time to verify one will be present at the time of your visit.
Does Goin’ Postal do fingerprinting?
Yes, we offer livescan fingerprinting (along with I9 verification and identification photographs) through FieldPrintUSA.com. Visit that website to schedule your livescan fingerprint. At this time Goin’ Postal does not offer “Wet” fingerprinting services.
Can I send a package to Goin’ Postal?
While we are able to receive packages from all sources (FedEx, UPS, USPS, Amazon, freight), we only accept deliveries for Personal Mailbox (PMB) customers. PMBs are a great way to prevent porch piracy and keep your mail and packages out of the weather. Stop in the store to open your Personal Mailbox today!
Why do I have to fill out a shipping form? Why can’t I just write the address on my package or have you enter it on your computer?
The Goin’ Postal process is proven to reduce errors and misunderstandings. We find the written form holds us accountable to you the customer as we have your written instructions on where to send you package. The written form also provides you a written copy of all the information regrind your shipment such as weight, dimensions, address, carrier and service chosen, special handling needs, and price.
Why don’t I have a tracking number on my receipt?
Our system allows us to take your package, provide you a price, and get you on your way. We produce the label and the tracking after you leave and email that to you. We find Goin’ Postal customers appreciate the emailed tracking number as it contains a clickable link that takes you directly to a tracking page for real-time updates on your shipment. The email is also easily forwarded to whomever needs the tracking number as well.
Is there anything I cannot ship with Goin’ Postal?
There are certain things that Goin’ Postal cannot (or will not) ship. If something is not regulated, it is a safe bet we can send it. If an item is potentially regulated in some manner, we may not be able to ship it. For example- HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials such as extremely flammable liquids and gases) require special licenses to handle and ship so Goin’ Postal obviously does not ship those. Lithium batteries can be shipped but not in large quantities and must be carefully packed. We do not ship ammunition, guns, or parts of guns such as upper/lower receivers, triggers, and barrels as these are regulated items. Goin’ Postal does not ship prescription medication. We are prohibited from shipping alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, cannabis, THC-containing products, and vaping products.
Can I ship a package internationally with Goin Postal?
Absolutely! We are your local international shipping experts. We will make certain your package is orderly packed; review the import requirements for your destination country; advise you on potential customs, duties, and fees; and give you all your shipping options- from USPS, UPS, FedEx, and even DHL!
Is there anything special I need to do for an international package?
Well, shipping a package to another sovereign country is not quite the same as shipping a gift to your grandma. First thing- know what you are sending. You will need to fill out a customs declaration form. Don’t worry, we’ll actually fill out the official one for you, but we do need you to be able to list every item you are sending: what is it made of, is it new or used, how much is it worth, is it a gift or something you are selling- details like that. The second thing is you need to be prepared for this to take some time; we want to take the time to get your package overseas with no surprises so we ask that you be prepared to spend some time with us in the process. While most household goods or small things like simple gifts are typically able to se sent to most countries, each country is unique with its restrictions. For unusual, highly valuable, or merchandise being sold to a foreign buyer, Goin’ Postal recommends using the services of a US international exporter or an in-country customs broker.
Are you an exporter?
No, Goin’ Postal is not an exporter so we cannot give you final advice on what you can/cannot send to a specific country or if there are special or unique restrictions. What we can do is review with you the list of guidelines for a specific country and properly fill out what is typically required for a customs declaration.
What are some restrictions that foreign countries have?
Each country makes its own rules regarding what is safe and beneficial for its citizens and its industries. As such restrictions on what can be sent varies country to country. Mexico does not allow skin care or beauty products without a special license. Italy prohibits playing cards.
My service member is overseas and I was given a weird address to use. How do I send something to that address?
You were given an address that has an FPO, APO, or DPO in it. This is a special designation for mail going to an overseas military or diplomatic location. It allows you to send mail and packages at domestic rates to foreign destinations or ships at sea (and maybe in the future space???). The address you were given should have your service member’s name, a Unit number, the designation APO/FPO/DPO, the designation AP or AE, and a zip code. Some units may include the unit name (not all do) or other information such as a Box number. To fill out our shipping form you would use the Unit number as the street name/number, APO/FPO/DPO is the city, and AE/AP is the state.
What do APO, FPO, DPO, AE, and AP mean anyway?
Great question. APO=Army Post Office. DPO=Diplomatic Post Office. FPO=Fleet Post Office. AE=Armed Forces Europe. AP=Armed Forces Pacific.
What if something is too big for the Post Office / FedEx / UPS / DHL? What shipping option do I have? I’ve heard about freight shipping but that sounds scary.
Don’t worry. Freight sounds scary but here at Goin’ Postal we will make it as simple and straight-forward process as possible. If you have an item too big for the traditional carriers (exceptionally long or an item heavier than 150lbs) we have the tools, expertise, and contacts to get it out of your living room and to its destination via a number of freight sources. Whether it requires packing, crating, palletizing, or any other special requirement we can take care of it! In many cases we may even be able to ship direct from your front door. Contact us for more information on next steps!
Can I take you my returns?
Yes! We take returns all day long and our daily pickups with FedEx, UPS, and USPS means your item will get back to the seller and your money returned to you quickly. Just bring your item in with the return label and we’ll get it bagged or packed up and sent off.
Do you charge for accepting returns or drop-offs?
If you have your drop-off item packed up and ready to go there is no charge. If we have to print your label or help you tape it up there is a nominal fee. And while we do our best to help you reuse your packaging, if you need new packaging we do ask that you purchase that. All FedEx, UPS, and DHL drop-offs are accepted free of charge all the time. We do accept USPS-labeled returns as a courtesy; the first two USPS returns/day are accepted free of charge. There is a $0.50/package charge after the first two. This charge is waived for our in-house account holders and our Personal Mailbox (PMB) holders.
What about QR codes? Can I drop-off something that has a QR code on it?
The short answer is YES! The longer answer is we can scan and print ALL USPS QR-codes and MOST FedEx QR codes. Unfortunately, due to exclusive agreements between The UPS Store franchise, UPS, and Amazon, we are unable to accept UPS QR codes. In most cases retailers are able to substitute a QR code for an actual label if requested.
